This is a lovely hotel the staff are so friendly and very accommodating. The room was perfect so clean.
Hotel very good . clean . room really good had very good night's sleep bathroom spaces .hot water when needed nice to see bath and shower separate. only let down was toilet seat was loose.... Nice touch was the bottle of water in the room... breakfast was very nice.staff very helpful and friendly. Especially Dave on reception.will be back differently but next time with my wife . Maybe or a short break and for leisure. Would highly recommend to anyone
Every part of our stay was lovely from the staff, the room and the food.
Fab room from reception check in to check out staff were friendly and very helpful. Definitely will return in the future to Oriel Hotel.
Rooms lovely, spacious & spotless. Heating a bit tricky to work & not explained at check in. Bar & restaurant staff exemplary, reception staff not so good. Was not asked how stay was on checking out which is almost expected, particularly in a four star hotel. Would highly recommend bar/restaurant to stop off & eat but unlikely to stay here again.
Great value hotel. Excellent food and accommodation. Friendly staff.
Lovely hotel nice location. Staff very friendly and helpful Would recommend it for a family on the way West Cork
Stayed here for one night. Fabulous hotel, clean, very friendly staff. Stayed in room 311, huge room with king size bed and bunk beds (which my daughter loved) ???? Large ensuiite with separate shower and bath! Plenty of storage space, safe for valuables, tea/coffee making facilities. We ate in bar/bistro, food was gorgeous. Swimming pool, clean warm and huge! Definitely recommend the Oriel House Hotel. Book it!!
lovely hotel ,very friendly staff ,Gladys ,Clodagh and Simon very helpful always.
Start to finish all staff were lovely. For our meal we were helped by Mauve and Gabi who were really helpful.
Lovely hotel , great breakfast, will be back
Very impressed with the room, delicious breakfast, great location, high quality all round and had no issues parking. Friendly staff! The only downside was that it was difficult to enjoy the swimming pool as it was quiet full. Overall the leisure center was very nice.
Excellent Hotel,,very well looked after, receptionists Gladys and Elaine very helpful, Overall a lovely Hotel ,
Excellent hotel ,love staying there, always well looked after , lovely staff at reception Gladys and her colleagues, very helpful, many thanks.
Had a very pleasant stay in the Oriel. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Didn't have time to use the leisure center. The food in the bar was delicious. Nice to see that the breakfast including the cooked items was buffet style and it was top class. Ballincollig is a nice town with good shopping and easy access to Cork. The Oriel is definitely the place to stay if you are in this area.
Nice hotel. Clean ,warm, quiet
If paying in cash you need €150 in your account as a hold this was not made clear in an email to me.. went for dinner in the hotel was asked twice did we order a starter they brought my partners starter out and forgot mine did then came back and asked did we order a main course we were waiting at least 2 hours for our meal. Breakfast was cold. Also the toilet was broke in our room and the heating did not work we rang reception and the restaurant manger was sent up to look we said this on check out and got absolutely no law from the manger on duty we were not offered another room for the night it was absolutely freezing
GREAT HOTEL STAFF VERY HELPFUL.FOOD VERY GOOD .SERVICE GOOD. BREAKFAST FIRST CLASS.. WILL GO BACK AGAIN
Great service, great room! Only issue was the free WiFi. We could only access the WiFi in the lobby, restaurant and bar area's, not in the room. But other than that we had a fantastic stay in Oriel House Hotel.
Lovely room, staff very friendly and tasty breakfast
Excellent location, staff , food and facilities.. A real must
Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, always very well looked after
Excellent hotel ,lovely staff ,very good value
Lovely hotel, nice spacious rooms. Pool lovely. Staff very nice couldnt do enough for you. 4/5 as found the food over priced.
Fab stay, rooms were very spacious, leisure centre was great, food was delicious, very generous self service breakfast. Ideal location, easy access to cork city by bus from outside hotel.
Hotel exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable and the staff were all lovely and very attentive. Table service for breakfast was great and we enjoyed a number of meals there. A very enjoyable break .
Lovely staff all very friendly. Hotel is spotless & food is fab. Would have been 5 stars only the room was a bit cold even though heating was on. But enjoyed the stay. Thank you.
It is an excellent hotel ,great staff, friendly ,helpful ...excellent facilities
Excellent service, friendly staff, very comfortable settings. Hotel in very central location. Definitely recommended.
Enjoyed our stay, comfortable room, good food, staff very helpful and welcoming. Thank you
We had a very enjoyable stay. The facilities are excellent, the food very nice and the overall ambiance really good.
The hotel carpets were very stained in the corridors . There was also someone trying to open our bedroom door during the night they Tried the key pad and handle a number of times . The bar food menu was very expensive.
We had a lovely stay. The family room was very spacious and the kids loved the pool - it was very big with a lot of different sections so people were not on top of each other. We ate in the bar on both nights and the food was lovely, although service was a little slow but we weren’t in a hurry so it was fine! Our package was great value and would recommend this hotel to other families
Food first night was cold, person in charge was not very polite when this was pointed out.
I had a brilliant stay at the oriel..After a slight hicup we were put in a beautiful suite ftom their Ellis collection. The room was stunning.5 star.Breakfast was good.staff very pleasent..Had dinner as part of deal and it was lovely..pool area was very nice.so yes i recommend a stay.veey nice
It's hard to describe in short our stay. But the trip to Co. Cork wouldn't be such an amazing experience with great service that Oriel House Hotel provide to their customers. Starting a day from great gym facilities. Followed by delicious breakfast. Truly memorable family swim in state of art pool. Went for lovely walk in Ballincollig and road trip to Cork City centre (just 10-15min away). Evening menu and craft beers were just wonderful ending of a day. Highly recommended for families with kids and looking forward staying at this hotel again.
No complaints really apart from the lack of choice on the dinner menu.

Hotel lovely. Staff very helpful. However meals slow and cold on the first night we dined. Took ages to have it reheated. Cleaning procedures in dining rooms needs attention. Scraps just wiped onto floor some scraps on seats. No notion of people walking and sitting on area.
The holes was very good but the service at breakfast was bad I was given a table and was told someone would bring me tea and toast I had to go and ask for it .out from that I enjoyed my stay
Stayed here on weekend of 1/10/21, staff could not be friendlier, family room was huge, fantastic pool and the food and service in restaurant was top class, 5/5 for value and service , will definitely return
Lovely Hotel with very efficient staff. The only complaint would be that of the food menu for the main course. Very little to choose from. My Husband had to have sausage and mash such was the choice. Other then that would visit again

Hotel and pool is nice Staff is amazing Food is ok Overall nice hotel
Lovely hotel massive pool and facilities
The Hotel was ideally located just outside Cork City. From the moment we entered to the time we left staff were friendly ,welcoming ,polite, and helpful. While we did not use the pool other facilities at the hotel were excellent bar and restaurant were clean and well run service was brilliant and it was extremely good value. Food which we availed of breakfast ,lunch and dinner were all excellent and tasty . The rooms were clean and well maintained and in these unprecedented times of Covid the safety of staff and patrons was upheld at all times. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone Thank you Regards Ronnie & Fiona Guinan
Joe at the reception very helpful.. But after that I must say over all very disappointing. The WIFI was so poor and for 3 out of our 4 days we did not wifi. The reception said this is a problem in the hotel.. Not good enough. Food, could be better .. Breakfast was good. I don't like to give a bad review, but even after talking to whoever was on reception they did not seem to care.
Nice hotel, lovely swimming pool. Food was good also.
We spent 4 nights here and the hotel is fab, beautiful inside and out spotless clean and lovely rooms, lovely big foyer great for travelling with kids. Our only downfall was breakfast in the mornings the 1st morning all our breakfasts was cold and the 3rd morning we waited 40 mins to be served after we were seated, and still didn’t receive everything we ordered, the other 2 mornings were fine. 99% of the staff were lovely and the pool and gym was great. Would go back.
The hotel was lovely, however I was very disappointed with the food. We stayed for 4 nights and all four nights it was the same menu. No roast of the day, no curry, no stir fry. The kids menu was very poor. No pasta option on this either. I noticed that there was allot of outside food delivery's being delivered, this goes to show the food was not up to scratch. I hope you can give my feedback to the chef.
Loved our 3 night stay here, rooms large, quiet and comfy. Staff just so friendly and helpful, vegan aware menu in bar and food was lovely. Lots of choice at breakfast also. We loved the pool, will be staying here again!
Lovely hotel with very friendly helpful staff. The food both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Loved the pool also. Highly recommend the Oriel.
Our room had a double an single bed an a camp bed it wasn’t an actual family room. The springs on the mattress on the camp bed were comin through it we had to ask for a duvet to to put under my child so they could sleep on it. Couldn’t get a reasonable time for breakfast. On the first night we couldn’t get food it was booked out so we had to go get food elsewhere. Second night we ate In the bar it was expensive an not a whole lot of food on the plate. Only good thing about this hotel was the swimming pool.
Fab hotel. Ideal location for us. Kids really enjoyed the pool
excellent hotel ,excellent staff
Great value for money. Lovely pool. Would definitely return.
Overall it is a lovely hotel with a great leisure centre and pool. The room was spacious. However the breakfast left a lot to be desired. The choice was poor and the food was tasteless. The food in the bistro was also very poor and not acceptable for a four star hotel.
Excellent hotel and excellent staff, one of our favourite hotels
Oriel House in Ballincollig is in a perfect location. very near Kinsale, Charles Fort and Blarney Castle. Rooms were nice a spacious, clean but could maybe do with a little revamp. I was surprised how quiet the noise level was especially as there was a function on. Staff lovely and friendly. Food delicious, at breakfast we had the best rashers we ate in a long time. I would stay here again.
Fabulous hotel with amazing staff, all friendly & hardworking. We had evening meal included in our rate & it was gorgeous, restaurant staff swopped my dessert choice for a cheese board instead without a quibble. Receptionist was lovely as well, I rang beforehand & explained I'd back surgery in November & didn't want a shower inside bath tub & she gave us a perfect room. I really liked this hotel & definately plan on returning.
Excellent hotel ,excellent staff
excellent ,very cordial helpful and brilliant staff, sean
We went there for a weekend and couldn't have choosed better! The hotel is amazing , the food lovely and the breakfast with good options. Our room was spacious and comfortable. For sure we will return
I arrived at the Oriel hotel at 245 on the 19th of April as we were to early to check in we decided to get something to eat. So we got the carvery lunch while getting it we found the chef to be very unpleasant and when we asked for some extra mash he gave us a look that made us feel very uncomfortable. At any other time with getting this treatment I would refuse the food but we didn't cause a scene as my in laws were with us and I've only learned when we got back that he wasn't very nice to them either. This was a very bad start to our break. The other problem I found was that there a very noisey fan in our room and this came on at 645 each morning. Other than these 2 experiences I found the hotel and staff a very nice place to stay
great stay lovely hotel can not say enough good about it
Beautiful and child friendly hotel. The room was big enough for all of, good breakfast. Will surely stay in hotel when next in cork
Staff is very friendly and attentive. The rooms are big, clean and nicely furnished. Good joice of breakfast. We would come back anytime again.
Really nice modern hotel, cheerful helpful staff & a lovely modern setting. Very happy with our stay here & would not hesitate to return if I'm in the area. Martin V
Lovely friendly staff to my family and I. Yummy food, comfy quiet rooms. Nice ambience. Good swimming pool with baby pool and lanes. Would visit again. Only issue would be cleanliness. Cutlery had stains on them and cup in room had stain too. But overall very happy
Most of my stay was very enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. However on the Saturday night there were small children in the restaurant doing cart wheels around the floor at 10pm which spoilt the dinner for us. I did complain but received only a token apology. I am giving 3 stars because of my experience in the restaurant otherwise it would have been 4
Quality hotel, lots of money spent on it. Modern, decent sized family room, one large double, one smaller double, and a camp bed for the young lad. We will certainly go back here again - great for a family break, we have a 2 and a 4 year old Easy to get to, and plenty of shops and restaurants in Ballincollig, Close to Cork and Fota Wildlife park. Friendly, helpful staff Great breakfast selection, good evening food in the bar. For families, the swimming pool is laid out very well, the water is nice and warm, there are about 4 segregated areas alongside main pool to relax, sit in bubbles, mini pools to swim in, and a kiddies area with warmer water. There is a jacuzzi for adults. The pool area, showers and changing rooms are really clean and warm, and crucially not overcrowded any time we went down. Didn't use gym, but it appeared to be very well equipped.
Great hotel for family break, lovely pool and gym, class food. We loved it!
We stayed three nights on a Bed and Breakfast basis - the bedroom was spacious - the bathroom was the nicest I've seen in a hotel, the breakfast was gorgeous - we didn't need to eat again all day. We dined in the Powder Keg Bar each night - the food was so delicious and reasonably priced we didn't need to go elsewhere. Our six year old had originally been reluctant to go to Cork (he wanted to return to Klkenny!) - but declared Cork 'awesome' and can't wait to go back. Staff were very friendly and helpful in suggestions and directions for days out. I will definitely return and will recommend to all my friends.
Beautiful hotel in a really nice village, rooms spotlessly clean and staff friendly and helpful. Bar food delicious and hotel in close proximity to Ballincollig village. We had a lovely two day stay and would highly recommend the hotel.
Had a lovely stay at the Oriel House Hotel with my husband & 2 children. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. Enjoyed a lovely breakfast & bar food one evening. Great kids pool. We would definitely return to this hotel.
A great hotel to stay in. Stayed as part of a B&B package. We ate with friends in the Hotel restaurant. Dinner & breakfast was 100%. All hotel Staff very friendly & helpful. The Pool was the best for children, nice and warm and there was pool toys for the Children. Leisure Staff were so helpful.
Stayed 4 nights from 8/7/14.....previous guest review card still there from May in room 320!!! not a good sign ...fridge not working, reported 3 times ...no action taken......Tea tray had no tea bags .......on one day room not cleaned/changed at all!!!! Breakfast just passable ... left waiting quite a lot. Staff on desk quite friendly....but just don't dare ask bartender for a drink in the bar at 11.31pm (having arrived back after a concert) .. convenient area/comfortable room...pity about the various cock-ups ....but, certainly NOT a 4 star
Only stayed one night which was too short! but the staff were very helpful and friendly the room was really comfortable the leisure facilities were very good a really great place to stay look forward to going back!!
Really enjoyed our stay in the Oriel House Hotel. Could not recommended highly enough. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Food was fabulous and there was a great atmosphere in the hotel. Our room was spotless and bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.
My mother and I really enjoyed our trip to Oriel House Hotel. We had a lovely room looking out onto the countryside, a lovely en-suite which contained a shower and bath. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was lovely and excellent music in the bar that night.
lovely hotel. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Food was excellent. Excellent value for money and Ballincollig is a lovely village and Cork city is only a short drive away. Highly recommend.
very poor service. Breakfast poor. Hot food served on a cold plate. Service very slow in bar /restaurant.
My friend & I stayed here for two nights & were very disappointed with the food and service. We stayed there last year & it was fine but not any more. The hot breakfast was served on cold plates. The kippers were served warm on top with cold spots on the bottom. Porridge was watery. Service for food in the bar was very poor left waiting for long periods. A glass of wine was served using a measure which I had never seen used anywhere. My friends room was cold & she was unable to have a shower. Definitely wont be back.
Stayed for two nights. The staff could not do any more for us. Thank you. Very family friendly hotel.
Stayed here sun 16th march-lovely hotel, receptionist very friendly. hotel just a 5 min walk to centre of ballincollig leisure centre very relaxing-jacuzzi,sauna etc would stay again young couple kilkenny
booked a double room for myself and fiancé, got a room with 2 single beds pushed together, which meant we could not sleep near to each other due to the ridge in the middle of the 2 single beds. Straight away our getaway became less romantic. that afternoon @ 4.30pm we went had food in the hotel bar and our waiter was in no way friendly, helpful or bothered about us or in fact any customer he served. The food was we received was tasteless of tiny portions, however the barman who took our bill payment very kindly offered to give us a reduction even though we hadn't complained, merely replied with honesty when asked if we enjoyed our food. We were so hungry after travelling and poor bar food that we had to go else where to eat. The worst part of all was the' Constant LOUD noise' from 10.30pm - 8am coming from an inspection point in the room. when we opened our window to have fresh air during the night, we were met with another constant LOUD noise the fans from the restaurant/bar. This gave us a bad headache and sleepless night, and put us in a foul mood with each other! regretfully we waited until check out to give our disappointed feed back. The excuse we were given was that the room we were given was in the old part of the hotel!!!!!!! Which quite frankly is a pathetic excuse! it seemed as though they gave us the most inadequate room available! We received an apology from the manager but that was the only gesture received, we paid in full and suggested they sort out that room for future guests if they really had to use it! We had a stressful stay @ this hotel and wasted journey as well as money wasted. Such a let down as we assumed the accommodation would match the beautiful lobby entrance. Maybe rooms in the new part of hotel would be better but don't forget to specify you would like an actual double bed if you and your partner are booking. very poor experience here. I hope other customers will not be treated in such a bad way!
Beautiful hotel. Rooms are lovely & spacious. Food in the restaurant is very good. Bar area is nice too. Staff at this hotel are really friendly & efficient. Children are very welcome. Leisure centre is excellent. Ballincollig itself is a lovely area, it has something for everyone & plenty to do for children. We will definitely return & highly recommend this hotel. Top class break for an affordable price.
Really beautiful hotel in the stunning town of Ballincollig. Rooms were really spacious, very clean and very modern. Bathrooms were beautiful and lovely bath with seperate shower. Room had all the mod cons including, lovely little choc chip cookies with the tea/coffee and a few bottles of water. The pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were fantastic. We will definately be coming back with the kids. Hotel is in a great location to the town (within walking distance). The hotel also has a luxury spa, that offer special deals, unfortunately you will have to book in advance, but the treatments all look lovely and reasonably priced.
Very nice friendly and helpful staff. Food lovely. Room lovely and spacious and clean. Excellent power shower. Would definitely recommend.
Exceeded all expectations, spotlessly clean, staff were great, pool area excellent for kids and powder keg bar and restaurant plenty of room with great food. Overall we couldn't fault the hotel and staff, they even gave our two kids free cornflakes before bed. We will be back again soon.
really good price, good room and breakfast. staff lovely
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA very enjoyable ,excellent staff, very helpfull.
the hotel we found was very nice, there was a couple of things with the room 1. my wife found the room a little chilly in the night, 2. we found it a little unusual that their was no phone in the room, we had dinner in the bar on Friday evening, my wife is not a big eater and asked for a half portion the lad that served us just said no that cant be done instead of going and asking the chef, i had the steak i was a little taken back when it was served as their was very little on the plate for the price we paid, other than that i would recommend this hotel the facilities were very good.it was ideal what we were looking for just a total chill out.
Very family friendly hotel, our room was very spacious and comfortable. Staff friendly and very accommodating. Free kids club each evening was a huge bonus and our children loved it. Would definitely return.
Great family room, and kids club, very friendly staff, would retrun for another stay and would recommend to a friend.
Stayed here for one night as a birthday treat. Great location, very convenient. Excellent swimming pool and leisure centre. Spacious room and bathroom. Although there was a wedding in the hotel that night, didn't experience any noise. Great variety at breakfast, self-service. I would return and highly recommend this hotel to couples or families. The only negative comment I have, is that the reception staff could be more friendly. Thanks for a great weekend.
we stayed in hotel for one night we had food in the bar the first night and it was absolutely gorgeous. The room was excellent and the breakfast very good. all in all a great place and would recommend to others
beautiful clean hotel gorgeous food nice staff luxurious room great leisure club
Enjoyed our stay at the hotel, room was fine no issues clean with lots of space, would have preferred 2 single beds for the kids, but got one 5 foot, it was fine but could hear the comment move over to your side..pool was very good and food was enjoyable, kids really liked the food. Kids club worked well, man and dad got a walk and a pint and kids got some space..all in all good modern hotel in nice location...P.S. hotel should look at aircon it didnt work but fan was in room before we arrived. J&D, Limerick
We stayed for one night as part of a Rowing Team attending an event in the National Rowing centre, staff were very pleasant and accommodating to us. They arranged for a very early breakfast in the lobby for some of the rowers. Clean and bright rooms. Excellent stay would return, very convenient for Rowing centre. G, Dublin
We stayed one night in the Oriel and could not really fault it. The breakfast was nice. Dinner was lovely. The staff were very accomodating and pool was well kept. The only complaint was the heat in the room was intensive. The weather was hot though but with underfloor heating in the bathroom it was stifling. We would return tho. Good value break/
Stayed here last weekend in a family room, 2adults plus 2 children. Beautiful room, plenty of space and spotless. This was my 3rd stay at this hotel and as with previous visits, flawless. From check in to check out every member of staff were so friendly, have recommended this hotel to work colleagues who were also very impressed. Top marks to the Oriel House Hotel!
I stayed here on May Bank Holiday weekend with my husband and 2 children aged 5 &7. I have to say this is probably the best hotel we have been at in Cork. Staff very friendly, great food and lovely leisure centre. We are regular visitors to Cork and have stayed in many different hotels and I would highly recommend this hotel. Will definitely be back.
Excellent. We stayed one night. The room was so comfortable, and warm. Very quiet, and peaceful. Evening meal and breakfast were lovely. Absolutely no complaints. Would recommend hotel to friends. Staff very welcoming and helpful.
We had a nice visit to cork, 2 adults & 2 children over St Patricks weekend. Room was nice size and well laid out. Pool was great and kids really enjoyed time spent there. Breakfast was good with nice selection. Dinner was not served in main restaurant but in annex beside lounge area. Was a bit dissapointed with that(setting), but food was excellant, and staff were very friendly. I think they did this to cater for crowd on St Patricks. Nice location for visit into city center and also surronding area. We did trip to Bunrathy which was great. Some nice places to eat in local town, 'Banna' Thai restuarant was great.
My daughter and I recently stayed at the Oriel House Hotel and on arrival found the room to be comfortable. However, on closer inspection over the course of the evening we found the menu offered to be very limited and so had to eat out in Ballincollig instead. The carpets in the hotel were patched with tape in various common areas and breakfast the next morning saw a shortage of bacon and egg. All in all I would not be staying at this hotel again and was very disappointed in our stay at the FOUR STAR?? hotel I would rate this hotel as a 2 star.
Excellent, lovely hotel, staff very helpful.
Had a wonderful stay with family here. All requests were met and had no issues from check in to check out. Photos are a true reflection of the hotel. Lovely building, staff were friendly and hotel was very clean. Food was great and overall it was great value. Will highly recommend. Ballincollig is a lovely area and just a short walk to shops and cafes. Pool was nice. The travel cot in the changing rooms was a great idea for when you have a little one with you. Kid's pool was perfect temperature. Had dinner in restaurant and breakfast. Portions were good size.
Absolutely fantastic time had in the Oriel - really good value for money - spacious, clean rooms with comfortable mattresses - we all slept well. Restaurant food and service absolutely top notch - all smiles and food delicious - even music great. Everywhere reallhy clean - pool great - will definately return again soon. Well done to all the staff for making our stay such an enjoyable one - we have passed the message around so expect more bookings!
FAB HOTEL WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND. STAFF VERY FRIENDLY FOOD LOVELY. WILL RETURN
By Peter, We stayed one night and we had a excellent meal in the bar. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation following our experience to any one.
lovely hotel excellent leisure centre
To whom it may concern, We stayed at the Oriel House last Saturday as we were attending my cousins wedding there. We cannot fault the hotel at all. It was a really enjoyable stay. The small things are what make the difference example two bottles of water left in the room which were handy at the end of the night and the fact that we were not woken up early and pushed out of the room at 12. Was pleasantly surprised and am already planning to go back. P
great hotel, breakfast is fab, staff are nice.
as soon as we walked in to the room it absolutely stank of smoke! really should have been aired out. alarm to ask u to leave room is very off putting. a simple phone call from recepttion would do. lady at reception wasnt very helpful. barman in the residents bar, David, was a delight. made the stay for us. the rooms apart from the smell, are nice, comfortable rooms.
Very spacious comfortable room.but not as clean as it should be and there was a smell in the bathroom, walls throughout the hotel need painting. But Staff were very courteous and pleasant. Good value for money through Lidl breaks.
We had a great stay. Residents bar didnt open until 02.30 that was bad
The room was very clean but we could not get the heating to work. We went to the bar later that evening and found it to be a bit dirty. I would return to the hotel again but I would visit a different bar.
